VOLUNTEER

There are 2 different ways you can volunteer for HAS:

 #1:  The Highland Animal Shelter is a true "no kill" facility.  That means that many of our residents spend years here before finding their forever family home, while some will live out the rest of their natural lives in our loving environment.  With only 2 full-time paid employees, our shelter operates on a partial volunteer staff during the work week and a total volunteer staff on weekends.  
     We currently have 2 wonderful ladies in charge of the weekend shifts to train, assist, and guide you through the tasks at hand.
     Cleaning cat cages, doing laundry, dishes and doing yard work all make a substantial difference in the lives of these precious animals.  Truly the difference between just a shelter and a home.  Each task performed by volunteers makes it possible for us to provide the highest standard of living and sanitary conditions.

 #2:  Highland Animal Shelter operates on Fundraising and Donations.  Dedicated and tenacious volunteers work with others to plan and schedule fundraising events.  They network with family, friends, and strangers to gather donations, staff their events and get items to raffle, auction or sell at those events.  These activities are the life blood of the shelter and make the standard of living we have put in place possible.  To volunteer with fundraising please email :

For all your time and dedication to the Shelter you will receive lots of unconditional love from the animals. In order to become a volunteer please complete the "volunteer form" below then, call or email the shelter to set up an orientation and tour. All volunteers over 18 are welcome, and contact us to see about comming with your child.  It is hard work, but the rewards are great!
